Attn: Families of Children Who May Qualify for Free/Reduced Meals This School Year –
The U.S. Department of Education has announced that ALL students will continue to receive free school breakfasts and lunches during the 2021-2022 school year. We are pleased to continue offering our students the opportunity to receive FREE meals during each school day we are in session.
However, families who may qualify for Free/Reduced Meals for the 2021-2022 school year should still complete and return an application for this school year.
Without this application on file, your child may not be able to access some of the supportive assistance offered to make it possible for ALL students to participate in co-curricular activities, regardless of their financial situation. Assistance may be available for your child to participate in athletics, music programs and aquatics programs. In addition, assistance may be available for technology needs such as device insurance and Internet service at home.
Without a completed and current Free/Reduced Meals Application on file, your family also will not be able to receive the continued P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer) through the 2021-2022 School Year. More information on this program is available here: https://www.education.pa.gov/Teachers%20-%20Administrators/Food-Nutrition/programs/Pages/Pandemic-Electronic-Benefit-Transfer-(P-EBT)-Program.aspx
Finally, we encourage families who may qualify for Free/Reduced Meals through school to complete and submit an application for the 2021-2022 school year because we need accurate accounting of the need among our student population in order to offer a Summer Food Services Program in the District.
If you have qualified for Free & Reduced School Meals in the past, or if you think you may qualify now, we encourage you to complete an application and return it as soon as possible.
The Free & Reduced Meals Application may be completed online via the following link: https://www.schoolcafe.com/
Families who have qualified for free/reduced meals in previous school years will also receive a copy of this letter and an application by mail before the start of the school year.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Food Services Department at estump@cysd.k12.pa.us.
Sincerely,
Central York School District
