mass customized learning: a glimpse into the k-6 experience

Central York School District's K-6 schools are customizing the learning experience for our students. Our faculty, staff and administrators want students to engage with learning, connect with classmates and teachers, and feel inspired to succeed socially, emotionally and academically throughout their Central Experience.

What does this look like in our K-6 classrooms? Take a few minutes and see for yourselves how our teachers and schools are customizing learning at the K-6 level:

Mass Customized Learning: Grades 7-12.

Whether it's self-paced learning or joining a student-run business, or participating in the High School's, "Apollo" Program, our secondary students have more voice and choice when it comes to their education than ever before.

Our faculty, staff and administrators work to provide learners in Grades 7-12 with a Central Experience that helps them succeed socially, emotionally and academically and that prepares them for post-secondary success.

School Board Approves District,
CYSD Support Staff Contract Agreement

The Central York School District is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with the Central York Educational Support Personnel Association (CYESPA) on the terms of a new four (4) year collective bargaining agreement. The previous agreement expired on July 1, 2018.

The average salary increases under the tentative agreement are as follows: 4.50% (retroactive to July 1); 4.50; 4.50; and 4.80. In exchange for those increases to salary, CYESPA agreed to very significant concessions with respect to medical benefits, including elimination of the current PPO plan and implementation of a qualified high deductible health plan for all full-time, eligible support staff effective January 1, 2019.
The plan will include health savings accounts, or HSAs, which will give all eligible support staff enrolled in the plan more control over their healthcare choices and costs. This will fundamentally change the way the District provides medical benefits to eligible support staff.
Additionally, the Association agreed to increase the surcharges on coverage for the working spouses of employees that should result in the vast majority of those spouses obtaining coverage from their own employers rather than from the District.
These significant changes to medical benefits enabled the Board to offer salary increases which help keep salary schedules at Central York competitive with area school district salaries and private sector employers in the county.  Other changes include increased family illness leave and additional life insurance coverage.
